The Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps (RVAC) was established in 1978 to serve the residents of the Riverhead Township. It has been our honor and privilege to serve our neighbors for the past 44 years. We look forward to continuing that commitment for our neighbors bringing the highest level of prehospital care available to each of you at your time of need. This year the demand for our service has been greater than ever with over 5,000 individual requests for assistance.
Similar to many other not-for-profit organizations we rely heavily on your generous donations to help continue our success. We continually find it challenging each year to find new volunteers and funding sources that will help us continue to meet the growing demands as the Riverhead Township grows exponentially. No matter what challenges we face on a daily basis, whether an individual medical emergency, motor vehicle accident or one of many standby requests for community based schools or local business events that support our community, we are always there to answer the call.
This year we have taken many steps to improve our capabilities to meet the increases in service demand. We have invested thousands of dollars in improving our critical care therapies, including, a new pain management pharmacology and advanced airway interventions improving survival outcome. While continuing to build on many of the improvements we have implemented in previous years making RVAC a leader in prehospital care. In addition, we have made a commitment to make our neighbors part of the lifesaving chain of survival, earning the Suffolk County Regional Emergency Medical Service Gold Medal Community CPR Award in 2015 for teaching over 1,300 residents American Heart Association hands only CPR.
Now, as another successful year draws to an end, we must again ask for your support. As our neighbors and partners, your donations help us continue our lifesaving missions, either in the form of a charitable donation, becoming a volunteer or sign up for one of our hands only CPR classes to help us further increase the chain of survival of our neighbors suffering sudden cardiac arrest.
If you would like additional information about the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance, becoming a volunteer or just want to stop in and say hello, we are here 24 hours a day to meet your needs.
I would personally like to thank you all for your continued support and allowing us to continue to serve our neighbors in their time of need.
Sincerely,
The Members of Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance
