Today, we proudly share photos from the annual run organized by the wife of Staff Sgt. Dashan Briggs, a true hometown hero whose legacy continues to inspire us all. Sgt. Dashan Briggs, a member of the 106th Rescue Wing, dedicated his life to serving our nation with courage and distinction. Tragically, he passed away on March 15, 2018, during a helicopter crash in Iraq while on a mission to support Operation Inherent Resolve.
This particular hero's loss hits close to home. Sgt. Briggs was also close friends with multiple members of the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, including myself. His bravery and friendship left an indelible mark on our hearts.
Sgt. Briggs exemplified the highest values of service and sacrifice, and it is in his honor that we gather each year to participate in this meaningful event. This run not only commemorates his incredible contributions but also supports his family and the broader community he loved so dearly.
It is our pleasure and privilege to take part in this fundraiser, celebrating the life of Sgt. Briggs and supporting his wife's efforts to keep his memory alive. Through this event, we come together to remember a brave soul, uplift his family, and reinforce the bonds of our community.
Fly high, brother. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this heartfelt tribute. Let’s continue to honor Sgt. Briggs by embodying the spirit of service and unity that he so proudly represented. |
